| Ketamine has gained increasing attention as a novel antidepressant. This article reviews the clinical studies on the antidepressant and anti-suicidal properties of ketamine and its enantiomers (R-ketamine, S-ketamine) and metabolites (2S, 6S; 2R, 6R) -hydroxynorketamine (HNK). The mechanisms responsible for ketamine’s antidepressant effects are also briefly reviewed. |
