Doctor Zhang works as the Chief Specialist in the International Mental Health Department at the Third People's Hospital of Zhuhai and is employed at the Palo Alto Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the United States (a teaching hospital affiliated with Stanford University).
With over 30 years of experience in mental health, he has personally treated over 200,000 visitors and patients from China and the United States.
Doctor Zhang is a lifetime member of The Society of Chinese American Physician Entrepreneurs and Alliance of North American Chinese Physicians (ANACP).
He has received the Award for Advancing Minority Mental Health and the Award for Excellence in Medical Education (2017, 2018, 2022) by the American Psychiatric Association.
He has Led a team to translate and introduce the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (Fifth Edition) (DSM-5) and its revised version (DSM-5-TR).
He is the first expert to introduce American Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Student Assistance Program (SAP) to China.
Over the past 10 years, Zhang has translated and authored 12 textbooks.
