Systemic review includes qualitative systemic review and quantitative systemic review (meta-analysis). The structures are different. The former is in the “Review” column and the later in the “Original Research Article” column. For both, article length should be 5000-10000 Chinese characters.
1. Qualitative systemic review: Once the literature collection is completed and the homogeneity does not meet the requirement for meta-analysis, then a descriptive systemic evaluation, i.e., qualitative systematic review should be carried out. It should include title (Chinese and English), authors & institutes (Chinese and English), descriptive abstract (Chinese and English), key words (Chinese and English), introduction, materials & methods, results & discussion, conclusions and references.
2. Quantitative systemic review: Once the literature collection is completed and the homogeneity meets the requirement for meta-analysis, then a quantitative systematic review should be carried out. Its structure should be the same as an original research article, including title (Chinese and English), authors & institutes (Chinese and English), structural abstract (Chinese and English), key words (Chinese and English), introduction, materials & methods, results, discussion and references.
Note: (1) Descriptive abstract should be adopted by articles other than original research, such as expert perspective, experience and education columns. Its content includes three parts: 1st: background, objective and significance; 2nd: main content of the research 3rd: conclusion. (2) Introduction mainly describes the reason, objective and significance of the review. (3) Material & Methods mainly describes the literature source, searching strategy, inclusion and exclusion criteria and evaluation method. For Meta-analysis, statistical methods should also be stated. (4) Discussion allows authors to express views on research issues on the basis of the literature collected, rather than simply repeating or listing the results of cited literature.
