There should be a serial number preceding the title of tables indicating the sequence. The table title should accurately and concisely reflect the content of the table, vagueness and verboseness should be avoided.
Tables shall include horizontal and vertical headings. Horizontal headings should be placed at the left, indicating the meaning of the rows. Vertical headings should be placed at the top, indicating the meaning of columns. If the unit of vertical headings are the same, it can be placed at the top-right of the table with a parenthesis.
Between the headings and the bottom line is the main body of the table, in which the data should be shown. All numbers shall be in Arabic numerals. Numbers within a column shall be aligned by the decimal points or by symbols such as "~", "±" and "/" if there is any. When the cells of table are of pure text, the content shall be aligned to the right or in the middle. Punctuation shall be used correctly in the table, but no punctuation shall be used at the end of each paragraph.
Note of the table includes supplementary description to the content not covered in the table. Annotation symbols can be added at the places that further elaboration is needed. Note can also include statistical hypothesis and other information, and is generally put below the bottom line. According to relevant national standard (GB 1.1-2000), the journal will stop using symbols such as “ *, #, ○, ●, ▲...”, which were commonly used as annotation symbols in tables. The annotations should be in English letters such as "a, b, c, d, e...", placed at the right top corner of the noted cell, and be sequenced from left to right, top to bottom all through the table.
Three-line style shall be adopted for all tables, namely the top line, the headings line and the bottom line. There is no vertical line, oblique line or horizontal division line. The top line and bottom line are thick lines, and the headings line is a thin line, as shown below.
