Objective To explore the feasibility of acceptance and commitment therapy in improving interpersonal difficulties and mental elasticity of college students with social anxiety in China. Methods Seven college students were implemented group counseling for eight weeks. Then the social anxiety score (anxiety scale exchanges IAS), SCL -90 scores and mental flexibility scores (accept- ance and action questionnaire) of the seven participants were measured during different timeframes ( a week before the intervention, a week after the intervention, six weeks after the intervention). Results After counseling, the total scores of social anxiety and SCL - 90 of the seven members reduced, and the total scores of acceptance and behavior increased, but none of the differences were significant. There were significant differences in scores on the interpersonal sensitivity factor. Conclusion The group counseling through accept- ance and commitment therapy can effectively reduce the interpersonal sensitivity of college students with social anxiety, but the effect of enhancing mental resilience couldnt reach the significant level.
