Objective To investigate the general well-being of depression patients, and to explore the correlation among general well-being, social support and coping styles. Methods From February to September 2019, 120 depression in outpatient and inpatient departments from Anhui Mental Health Center who met the diagnostic criteria of International Classification of Diseases, tenth edition (ICD-10) were randomly selected as the depression group. Meanwhile, 122 healthy individuals from community and family members of the patients were randomly enrolled as the control group. All the selected subjects were assessed by General Well-Being Schedule (GWB), Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS) and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ). Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used to verify the correlation among GWB, SSRS and SCSQ scores in depression patients. Results GWB score of depression group was lower than that of control group [(62.43±13.48) vs. (84.97±10.02), t=-14.780, P<0.01]. In the depression group, GWB score was positively correlated with SCSQ total score and positive coping style score (r=0.378, 0.460, P<0.01). GWB score of depression patients was positively correlated with the objective support score, subjective support score, utilization of support score and total score of SSRS (r=0.354~0.561, P<0.05 or 0.01). Besides, the objective support score, subjective support score, utilization score and total score of SSRS were positively correlated with total score and positive coping style score in SCSQ (r=0.234~0.398, P<0.05 or 0.01).Conclusion General well-being level is low in depression patients, and is positively correlated with social support and positive coping style. |
