Objective To investigate the effect of mindfulness-based intervention on depression, anxiety and quality of life among patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD), so as to provide evidence for clinical application of mindfulness-based intervention for IBD patients. Methods Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) related to mindfulness-based intervention for IBD published on English database (PubMed, Embase, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library) and Chinese database (CNKI, Wanfang and CBMdisc) were retrieved, and all statistical calculations were completed by RevMan 5.3 software. Results A total of 319 IBD patients in 5 RCTs were enrolled, including 163 case in intervention group and 156 cases in control group. Meta-analysis showed that the mindfulness-based intervention could alleviate the depression status of IBD patients (SMD=-0.56, 95% CI: -0.87~-0.26, P<0.05), while the improvement on anxiety status (SMD=-0.15, 95% CI: -0.59~0.30, P=0.52) and quality of life (SMD=0.13, 95% CI: -0.20~0.47, P=0.44) of intervention group showed no significant difference with those of control group. Follow-up revealed that the long-term effects of mindfulness-based intervention on depression, anxiety and quality of life in IBD patients were not significantly different from those of control group (P>0.05).Conclusion Mindfulness-based intervention can alleviate the depression level in patients with IBD, but its long-term effect remains obscure. |
