Objective To explore the effect of micro-lectures in mental health education among medical inpatients during the COVID-19 outbreak.Methods Inpatients in internal medicine department of The Third Hospital of Mianyang during January 26-February 10, 2020 were selected and received mental health education through micro-lecture videos posted on WeChat official accounts and group chats; At the same time, Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) and Patients’ Health Questionnaire-9 item (PHQ-9) were adopted to assess the patients before and two weeks after the implementation.Results Before and after the implementation of micro-lectures, the GAD-7 and PHQ-9 scores of the patients were reduced from (13.03±4.32) and (14.07±3.13) to (8.58±2.84) and (12.11±3.27), respectively. Moreover, the detection rates of moderate-to-severe anxiety and depression also showed significant difference before and after the implementation (P<0.01).Conclusion During the COVID-19 epidemic, the implementation of micro-lectures in mental health education may help relieve anxiety and depression status among medical inpatients. |
